On December 11, the MPA and the IFACT-GC jointly hosted the annual "Greater China Enforcement Symposium" in Macau. Almost 60 representatives attended, making it the largest ever gathering at this event. Senior Customs and Enforcement Officials attending included Simon Ng – Assistant Director General of Macau Customs, Tam Yiu-keung – Assistant Commissioner of Hong Kong Customs, Li Baozhong – Standing Deputy Director General of the National Anti-Piracy & Pornography Offices, Li Xiaowu – Deputy Director General of the Anti-Smuggling Bureau of General Administration of Customs and Xu Hu – Deputy Director General of Public Order Department of the Ministry of Public Security.
The annual symposium provides an excellent opportunity for Customs officers and MPA program staff from China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong to exchange information and experience and build relationships to assist in promoting member companies’ interests. The program included four discussion panels on cross-border piracy issues, anti-smuggling experience, the latest piracy trends and cooperation between enforcement authorities and the IPR industry on global piracy.
Mike Ellis, MPA President and Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, delivered the concluding speech of an event that was well received by all participants.
