On December 22, the IFACT-GC organized a visit to the Hong Kong Customs IPR Enforcement Museum for eight Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) IPR Ambassadors. The museum, established in October 2007, contains over 300 seized pirated works – movie, music and software, counterfeit goods and simulated scenes of copyright infringement activity. The collection illustrates the achievements of Hong Kong Customs in intellectual property enforcement work over the years and the changing trends of infringing activities taking place in Hong Kong. To date over more than a thousand people have visited this museum.
Senior Customs officials Koon Hon-chuen (Divisional Commander, Intellectual Property Investigation Support Division) and Wan Hing-chuen (Senior Inspector, Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau) guided the Ambassadors on the tour, sharing their experience in IPR enforcement.
Eight Ambassadors aged between 18 and 20 attended the event, all year one and two students studying various courses from the IVE Shatin and Kwun Tong Campuses.
The IPR Ambassadors program is organized by IFACT-GC and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and was officially launched in May 2007. The programme includes IPR-related seminars, visits and other activities designed to inform the IPR Ambassadors on the importance of IPR protection.
