On January 17, the Guangzhou Municipal Government opened an exhibition on the “Success of the Culture Market in Anti-pornography and Illegal Publications” at the Cultural Park in Guangzhou. The exhibition ran from January 17 to February 17, 2009 and the IFACT-GC was invited to set up a booth on IPR education.  IFACT-GC’s Sam Ho was invited by the Standing Deputy Director of the Office of National Anti-pornography and Anti-Illegal Publications Working Committee – Mr. Li Baozhong – to participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition with a host of senior officials from Guangzhou Municipal authorities.

IPR education was one of the main aims of the exhibition by highlighting the Guangzhou authorities experience over the past 20 years in fighting piracy and other illegal publications.  The IFACT-GC booth was visited by an estimated 60,000 people during the month it was in operation and presented a number of IPR trailers, a display on the evolution of home video products, information on the prevalence of pirated optical discs and a display of the features that will allow the public to identify pirated optical discs.
