(Taiwan) A joint press conference was held by the National Police Agency, Ministry of The Interior and the Criminal Investigation Bureau, urging members of the public not to use illicit streaming device to watch movie and TV content without legal authorization. Also reminds to be cautious that when the illicit streaming device and app connected to the broadband networks, might become personal data security vulnerabilities.
From 2021 to July 2023, the authorities seized 9,679 infringement cases, arrested 11,849 persons, of which 19 were illicit streaming cases. The content thieves have caused damage to the IP industry of over NT$135.4 billion.
The enforcement agencies will continue to collaborate with various departments and organizations to protect the IPRs and interests of the right holders.
