Press Conference on Raid Against A Side Recording Room Syndicate, Arrest Two
(Taiwan) The IPR enforcement officers conducted investigation for over six months and raided a syndicate which has been operated for at least two years on 25 August 2021. Officials searched two locations in Taoyuan and one location in Taichung, arresting two persons including the mastermind who has IT background.
A press conference was held by the Criminal Investigation Brigade (CIBr) to presented details of the foresaid raid on 27 August 2021. Officials seized 5 servers, 362 infringing streaming devices, 1,277 pieces of other telecommunication devises which were used to support the piracy activities. The syndicate uploaded infringing movie/tv files to the Cloud for users/customers to stream and view with APP and set-top box.
It is estimated that the syndicate has caused damages to at least 19 TV channels from Taiwan and Japan including our supports for over NT$100 million. IFACT-GC will continue to support the authorities in the investigation and criminal proceedings against content thieves.
